Dear Parents,

The fourth grade team has put together some resources that we feel will help your child during the time that we are away from school. Below you will find the suggestions, resources, and our contact information. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Reading

  • Read at home for 20-30 minutes each day and summarize what you read (tell who, what, where, when, why).

  • EPIC: Free online resource of books. (This works for free during school hours).

  • Anes Class Code: yiw6241

  • Danielson Class Code: nxy6485

  • Mathews Class Code: nbp3134

  • Kessel Class Code: LYE3464

  • https://mel.org/kids has online materials for kids to read.

  • NewsELA: Sign in with Google using your child’s chromebook login information. Be sure to add @mccschools.org to the end of their username. If no account exists, then simply create one using google.

  • Freerice.com: Vocabulary skill building that also helps feed families around the world! Neat!

  • Vocabulary.com is a great resource to build vocabulary.  Just have your student create a student account using their school google (Chromebook) account.

  • Storylineonline.net: celebrities read books to you!

Math

  • Practice multiplication facts (www.multiplication.com has games the students can play to practice their math facts)

  • Prodigy: Students should have their log-in info. If not, contact their teacher.

  • Khan Academy (sign in to save progress and see any assignments.)

    • Anes Class Code: 3HM8YTGY

    • Danielson Class Code: 5KT86KQA

  • Multiplication fact practice:  https://coolsciencelab.com/math_magician.html

  • Also, feel free to make your kids some multiplication flash cards or practice some skills with pencil and paper.  2 Digit by 2 Digit Multiplication (23 x 54 = ) and long division practice

(6358 / 4 =) are skills we have already completed in school.

Writing Practice

  • Scholastic story starters is a fun website where students can  play a simple game to create a start to a story to finish any way they wish. There are different genres to choose from such as: sci-fi, fairytale, and adventure.  http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/story-starters/

  • Keep a diary about your experience during this historical event.

Typing Practice

Other Ideas

  • Outside time!  Social distancing is truly important right now, but get out and take a bike ride or walk at the state park.

  • Family Game Night:  Play a game of Uno, Multiplication Roll-em with the family, or other family game.

  • Make a recipe together and talk about fractions!  How many ways can you make 1 cup? ¾ cup? What is half of ⅔ cup?

Please feel free to contact your teacher with any questions you may have, their contact information is found below. At this time we are still not allowed in the building, we will let you know when/if this changes. Please look for updates on the MCC APP. The schedule for meals provided by MCC is also found on the APP.

Stay safe and healthy!
