Spartan Families,

We are in mid-October and halfway through the first trimester of the school year. Time is flying, and we are having a good amount of fun so far this year. This newsletter is to update you on all of our happenings to this point and in the near future.

All high school teachers have had their first rounds of classroom observations done by Mr. Tuka.  It is always enjoyable to spend extra time in the classrooms with students and teachers.  Great strategies are going on in classrooms with the use of technology by teachers.  Cooperative learning strategies are very evident.  You can see the use of Kagan Strategies taking place in some rooms as teachers have utilized the training from the West Shore ESD.

Students are utilizing the Math Lab in its 2nd year.  Mrs. Tacktor and Mrs. Gauthier(Math Instructional Assistant) report that 7-10 students are utilizing it per day, which works out to around 40 visits per week during advisory.

The Spartan Way 3A’s program-  We are pleased to report that our number tracking of Attitude, Attendance, and Academics looks good at the ½ way point of the 1st trimester.  For our 1st attendance reward, we had 252 students receive House of Flavors ice cream.

PSAT testing for Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors was conducted last week.  We will not have testing again until April.

Please see the MCC app and our Facebook page to see the homecoming parade map, as the route has changed due to construction in the streets of Scottville. The homecoming parade will begin at 5:00 pm. Kickoff for the homecoming game vs. Shelby is at 7:00 pm. The crowning of this year's King and Queen is at halftime. The homecoming dance is on Saturday at 8:00 pm-11:00 pm at the high school.
