MCC Family,

Happy Labor Day Weekend to all of you.  This edition of the high school newsletter will focus on our first day of school and the essentials as we get back to teaching, learning, and our fall extracurricular activities.  This information is being given to you all in the name of preparation.  Our students must be prepared for the first day of school, Tuesday, September 6th.

The first day of school is a ½ day with our start time at 8:25am.  Doors to the school open at 8:15 am.  The students will go to their advisory class and then be dismissed to the gym for information relevant to the start of our school year.  When our assembly is over, the students will report back to their advisory and be there until our dismissal for the day at 11:30 am.  Bag lunches will be available.

Regarding our food service, there are a couple of changes this year.  Breakfast will be free for all students if they need or want it.  We still will have 2nd chance breakfast between 1st and 2nd hour, just not on our first day of school.  Students will get one of those breakfast opportunities.  Lunch will be free for any students that qualify for free lunch.  Those who do not qualify for free lunch will have a charge of $3.15 this school year.  Students can pay with cash or give amounts of payment to place on their account.

MCC enforces a dress code that is consistent with area schools and it is enforced.  Enforcement means that if students are in violation of the dress code they will be respectfully instructed to fix the issue.  If they cannot we will have students call their parents for a change of clothes.  If there is a refusal, this is considered insubordination and noncompliance, and will have to remain in the office or leave school.  Hats and hoods are not to be worn in the building.  Shorts and skirts for all students must be at the mid-thigh length and the stomach area for all students must be covered.  For more information on the dress code, you can access the dress code on our website at this link: https://www.mccschools.org/o/m...

Do you have your school supplies ready to go?  Pencils/pens, folders/binders, and having your full-charged Chromebook and charger every day is a must.  Make sure you have these for the first day of school and every day.

CTE classes for Juniors and seniors will be beginning on Wednesday of the first week.

Attendance at our Fall sporting events has been very good!  Whether you are a student or a fan, we appreciate your attendance to support our athletes!  Attending sporting events is good, clean entertainment, and fun for all ages.  With that being said we need our fans and students to be more engaged with our teams.  The sports boosters and students have done very well with theme nights and bleachers in the end zone.  Our band has energy and plays throughout the game. It is great to have sideline cheerleaders again.  We must do more!  Here is how:

  1. Stand and clap for our fight song every time it’s played.

  2. Participate in theme nights.

  3. Work with and say cheers with our cheer squad for energy and pride.

Participate and be engaged in the game to support our teams and make our home games fun and an advantage for MCC teams!

Here is to a great 2022-23 school year,  Spartans!
