MCC Upper Elementary - Our Actions Will Inspire and Equip Students to Excel

KHC is underway, and our school is excited about feeling good while doing good! MCC Upper Elementary is helping kids with special hearts through Kids Heart Challenge. We want as many families as possible to learn about heart health and the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR.
You can help by completing Finn’s Mission. When your student completes all the steps, they’ll earn a Lifesavers Cape and earn a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl LXI in 2027!

Mason County Central Schools would like to remind families that Friday February 13th will be a half day of school as we begin our Mid-Winter Break. Scottville Elementary will dismiss at 11:20 with all other buildings dismissing at 11:30. Additionally there will be no school on Monday February 16th. We hope you enjoy the long weekend and we will see you back on Tuesday February 17th.

Get ready to dance the night away at the Southern Belles and Cowboy Boots Dance! Wear your best country outfits and cowboy boots, there will be music, dancing, games, and snacks! Lets have a fun night together! This event will take place on February 28th at MCC High School; Mommy/Son from 3:00-5:00pm and Daddy/Daughter from 6:00-8:00pm. Cost is $20 per family (one adult and up to 3 children)! This is hosted by the MCC Lady Spartans Softball teams!

The Scottville Library has a Family Pajama StoryTime night coming up on Monday, February 23 at 6:30. Come dressed in your favorite pajamas to listen to some cozy stories before bedtime!

February is Love the Bus Month, and we are sending a HUGE thank you to our amazing bus drivers and transportation team! 🚌❤️ They greet our students with smiles, keep them safe, and help start and end each school day on a positive note. 👀 I spy with my little eye… Students who didn’t give up, Numbers that didn’t scare us, And LOTS of math happening at Upper Elementary! Perseverance looks pretty great on our students! 💪📚💙

We have noticed an increase of Influenza A cases here at the Upper Elementary. Please take a moment to read the letters from our Health Department regarding what actions can be taken to lessen these numbers. Please talk to your student about what they can do at school and at home to stay healthy!

Hello Spartan Families! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season! I am writing to see if there is interest in students participating in after-school rehearsals for our upcoming Spring Music Program.
Due to changes in my schedule, I am no longer able to rehearse with students during the school day. As a result, 4th and 5th grade rehearsals will be taking place after school and would require a consistent time commitment from both students and families. 3rd graders will be included in the program, but not these rehearsals at this time. Attendance is very important, and students should not miss rehearsals unless I am notified in advance.
Rehearsal Details:
Day of the week: Wednesdays
Time: 3:12– 4:12 p.m.
Location: Music Room UE

If you are interested and able to pick up your child by 4:15 p.m., please return the permission slip I sent home with your student by Monday January 26th or email me at the email listed below. I appreciate receiving permission slips as soon as possible so we can begin preparing for the program.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I know many of our families have been fighting a bug, so I have asked to have this note sent electronically. If your child is looking forward to having a part in the spring program, and have not been able to return this note, please email me the name of your student and the best contact phone number. I need to know by Monday January 26th so I know how to proceed with the program.

❄️ Snow Day, Spartans! ❄️ School is closed today thanks to all the snow we’ve been gifted over the past two days ❄️❄️❄️ (Mother Nature really said, “Here… have more.”) — and it is very, very cold on top of that! 🥶 If you do have to venture outside, please remember to bundle up like a human marshmallow: hats, gloves, coats, boots, scarves — the whole cozy combo! 🧤🧣🧥 While you’re staying warm inside, here are a couple of fun Snow Day ideas: 📚 Curl up with a good book and enjoy some quiet reading time ❄️ Grab some blank paper and make your own paper snowflakes — decorate your windows and pretend you’re running a winter art gallery Stay warm, stay safe, and enjoy another cozy day at home, Spartans 💙💛 We can’t wait to see you back soon — hopefully with all your winter gear in tow! ☃️👋

🐄🥛 Moo-velous Learning in 4th Grade! 🥛🐄 Ms. Bishop’s 4th grade class has adopted a classroom cow named Milkshake, and this week learning got extra hands-on! Students worked together to make homemade butter, shaking jars and showing great teamwork along the way. It definitely took some muscle and a lot of cooperation, but the results were worth it. The room was full of energy, laughter, and big smiles as students learned where our food comes from and had fun doing it. What a fun (and tasty!) way to learn! 💙👏
