At Mason County Central , the staff demonstrates Competence in their work, Compassion for everyone, and Courage to take on challenges each and every day.

Today was school lunch hero day!!! This is a little late posting but we want to tell our food service department how thankful we are to have them and for all of the things they do above and beyond just lunch!! You all are rockstars!!!

We zoomed in with the National Constitution Center for a program called Civic Stories. Students examined an artifact (Gideon Welle shoes) to tell a story in American History (Elizbeth Keckley's story behind crafting the shoes). Students volunteered to answer questions about artifacts and US History.
Here is more information about the program:
National Constitution Center: "The National Constitution Center’s free Civic Stories program provides elementary and middle school students from across the country the opportunity to engage with the past through artifacts and the stories they tell. In this setting, students develop a deeper understanding of history and consider the ways in which artifacts humanize history through the individuals, communities, and cultures they represent. Through this practice, students begin to identify where they see themselves, their communities, and their surroundings in the broader scope of American history.
Civic Stories are free, 30-minute virtual learning experiences designed for learners in third through eighth grade. Sessions are facilitated by members of the Center’s Education team and are scheduled at times that work for teachers and their students."

On Wednesday, Mrs. McCormick took her class to Grand Valley State University to participate in the We the People Constitutional Hearing. Several students received special recognition for their insightful responses and thoughtful contributions during the hearings: Ana Shatova, Chloe Jabrocki, Ethan Austin, and Ian Sodders.
The team is now eagerly awaiting word from the judges to see if they qualify for the National Convention!
Mrs. McCormick and Mrs. Steuck shared that the students represented MCC with pride and professionalism, and they had a fantastic time learning and connecting with peers from schools across the region.
