Dear MCC School Family,
To eliminate any confusion regarding the CDC's recent masking guidelines for tomorrow, Monday, May 17th... Mason County Central Schools WILLREQUIRE all students, staff and visitors to continue to wear masks for the foreseeable future... likely for the remainder of this school year.
Since Friday's announcement we have received further clarifying guidance for schools from the CDC, then MDHHS and now from District Health Department #10's Medical Director, Dr. Morse. All 3 of these entities clearly state that for all those able in schools to continue wearing masks through the remainder of the this school year.
MCC has consistently followed the guidance of our healthcare experts from the beginning of this pandemic. The good news is the vaccines are working and have put us on a path back to normalcy. If this trend continues, it is very likely when we return to school in the fall, we will experience a more normal school environment.
We are close to the finish line Spartans... Stay Vigilant... Stay Strong... and Stay Healthy!!!

Dear MCC School Family,
Today, the Governor and MDHHS encouraged High Schools to pause all face to face activities (including sports) for two weeks. Unlike the December mandatory shutdown of our High School, this was a recommendation.
Since coming back from Spring Break we have seen 5 positive cases here at Mason County Central Schools with 2 of those cases happening in the High School. At this time, our number of cases do not justify the need to pause our face to face instruction and shutdown our athletics for 2 weeks.
While that time may come if the circumstances change, we learned from the mandatory December shutdown that such a pivot to online instruction had a detrimental impact on many of our high school students' academic progress. We do not want to repeat such a mistake... and this time, it would be voluntary.
So, we will continue to stay the course but ask that all of you double down on your efforts to monitor your family's health and do the morning health checks before coming to school. If a student has any of the symptoms: Fever, Sore Throat, Cough/Shortness of Breath, Diarrhea/Vomiting, or Headache - please stay home and get a COVID test. Coming to school could cause the illness to spread and/or require unnecessary quarantines for others.
And in the meantime, Mason County Central Schools will continue to work hard on our end to provide a clean, healthy and safe learning environment.
Stay Healthy and Strong Spartans!!

Dear MCC Parents and Students,
Please be sure to do your daily health screenings prior to coming to school each day.
As you are likely well aware, Mason County and the State of Michigan have become a hot zone for the spread of the highly contagious COVID variant. This new variant appears to be very contagious for student populations as compared to what we experienced with the COVID virus in the fall.
A health screening each morning could prevent any further spread of the virus in addition to preventing mandatory quarantines of close contacts here at school or on our sports teams.
In addition - Check out the News Feed of this App or the District Website for information from District Health Department #10 regarding Vaccination Clinics for ANYONE 16 and older.
Stay Healthy and Strong Spartans!!
