Here's a great message from Mrs. Greiner. She talks to us about the Zones of Regulation and recognizing which zone we are in so we can choose the correct tools to help us when we have big feelings. https://youtu.be/3S5RqPAA5-I

National Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated May 4th through the end of this week. I'd like to extend a special thank you to our teachers at Scottville Elementary. They take on many roles each day, far beyond those of a teacher. They do so out of the love they have for children and because they want to make a difference for each one so they can go forth and achieve their dreams. I couldn't be more proud to be a Spartan! I also want to recognize others that work with our children at Scottville Elementary. Educating children takes a team of special people that also includes Student Success Specialists, Social Workers, Paraprofessionals, Office Staff, Custodians, Food Service Staff and Transportation Staff. Each of these groups has a special, important role in our children's lives each day. I’d like to thank these folks at Scottville Elementary for the passion each of them bring to school each day for teaching and learning. While learning looks much different at the moment, I'm so proud of the effort my school family has put into facing the challenges of distance learning to continue offering learning experiences for our young Spartans. Also, I want to extend a special thank you to those at home working with their children to ensure learning continues during this time we need to stay at home...we appreciate your efforts!

Good Afternoon Spartan families, please read this message to your children and watch this video with them when you have time today. "Hi boys and girls, we're all leaders for others in our lives and many times we don't even realize it. That younger brother or sister you think is trying to "bug" you is not usually the case, they look up to you and want to be with you, want to be like you and look to you as a leader. We also have leaders in our lives that we follow. We have been talking about leadership qualities this week. Let's start telling one another when we recognize members of our family making great choices, setting great examples and acting like great Spartan leaders!!! https://youtu.be/LtbWXEUuGZ4

Hi everyone, today we'll continue our discussion about leaders. We'll talk about the importance of choosing good leaders to follow and then the children can listen to scenarios and decide if the characters are acting as good leaders should or making poor choices as leaders. https://youtu.be/uFPktn6z9lo

Good Morning Everyone! We hope you’re able to enjoy this beautiful weather today. We have collected any medication your child may have had in our office and sent it to our Central Business Office. This includes prescription meds including inhalers and any over the counter meds you may have brought in for your child. Parents may call 757-3713 on Monday or Tuesday of this coming week to set up a time to stop in and pick them up if they are needed. Once the executive order has been lifted and it’s safe for us to gather again we will put together a plan for you to pick up any other items left at school.

Good afternoon, I hope this post finds everyone healthy. There have been a few parents reaching out to us asking "what's next" as we work to support you in educating your children. Our school family began working on a plan as soon as we received the executive order from our Governor last Thursday. I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to develop a well-rounded plan. Teachers will be checking in with their families between now and next Tuesday morning. These contacts will be crucial as we work to gather important information needed to build a concrete communication plan with each of you. Once we have this plan in place, we can roll out an education plan that best fits the needs of all our families (within our means). For now, parents should continue to utilize the resources shared a couple weeks ago. Our top priority is the social-emotional well being of our families. We are really trying to put together something that won't completely overwhelm you because we understand that taking care of your family's basic needs comes first. We're working to connect those in need with community resources. Please contact Mrs. Greiner at 231-613-5425 or email her at agreiner@mccschools.org if you have questions about available resources. You can also contact me at 231-757-4701 ext 520 or at cetchison@mccschools.org. There will be updates shared with our families soon. Take care everyone.

Good Afternoon Spartan Families. As most of you are now aware, we will need to cancel Kindergarten Round Up that was scheduled for April. We’re in the process of working out the details in order for you to be able to register your child to begin in the fall. At this time, please email me (Chris Etchison) at cetchison@mccschools.org if you will need enrollment materials. Please include your name, your child’s name and a contact number in case we need it. Once I hear from you, I’ll get you the information you’ll need and figure out the best method for us to share documents back and forth. If you know someone that does not have access to internet service, please ask them to call my office at 757-4701 (ext. 520). Please share this information with others that may need it. I’ll also post this message to my personal Facebook account.
