Good Morning Spartan Families. As we work to finalize distance learning opportunities for you we want to make sure to include lessons to address the social emotional needs of your children. These videos are designed for you to use when talking about important topics with your children. They can easily be adapted for any age group. We plan to post a couple of these videos each week. Here is the link to our first video this week. https://youtu.be/6VI-nBRDZMk
Directions for Kindergarten Round Up:
We have been working on a plan for parents to enroll their children in Kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year. We've created a link on our website you can visit to access a fillable pdf document that can be sent electronically to us. Once we received your online paperwork, we will send the rest of the documents you will need out to you. If your device doesn’t allow you to complete the form, let me know.
Here is what you need to do to access the online document:
1. Visit our website at: www.mccschools.org
2. Click on the “schools” link at the top of the page.
3. Select “Scottville Elementary”, this will take you to our building page.
4. Next, click on “Menu” at the top of the page and a blue window will pop up on the side of your screen.
5. Click on “Student Enrollment”.
6. This will take you to a white screen with the instructions you will need to complete the necessary paperwork to get your child enrolled.
7. Once you finish, email the pdf document to Amanda Merkey at: amerkey@mccschools.org.
8. We will need additional documents from you in the near future and will email or call you once we are at that point.
Thank you for choosing us to educate your child. We look forward to working with you over the next few years. Let us know if you have questions or need the document mailed directly to you. You can email me at: cetchison@mccschools.org. Please include your mailing address.
Thank You,
Chris Etchison
Scottville Elementary Principal
Good Morning Everyone! We hope you’re able to enjoy this beautiful weather today. We have collected any medication your child may have had in our office and sent it to our Central Business Office. This includes prescription meds including inhalers and any over the counter meds you may have brought in for your child. Parents may call 757-3713 on Monday or Tuesday of this coming week to set up a time to stop in and pick them up if they are needed. Once the executive order has been lifted and it’s safe for us to gather again we will put together a plan for you to pick up any other items left at school.
Good afternoon, I hope this post finds everyone healthy. There have been a few parents reaching out to us asking "what's next" as we work to support you in educating your children. Our school family began working on a plan as soon as we received the executive order from our Governor last Thursday. I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to develop a well-rounded plan. Teachers will be checking in with their families between now and next Tuesday morning. These contacts will be crucial as we work to gather important information needed to build a concrete communication plan with each of you. Once we have this plan in place, we can roll out an education plan that best fits the needs of all our families (within our means). For now, parents should continue to utilize the resources shared a couple weeks ago.
Our top priority is the social-emotional well being of our families. We are really trying to put together something that won't completely overwhelm you because we understand that taking care of your family's basic needs comes first. We're working to connect those in need with community resources. Please contact Mrs. Greiner at 231-613-5425 or email her at agreiner@mccschools.org if you have questions about available resources. You can also contact me at 231-757-4701 ext 520 or at cetchison@mccschools.org. There will be updates shared with our families soon. Take care everyone.
Good Afternoon Spartan Families. As most of you are now aware, we will need to cancel Kindergarten Round Up that was scheduled for April. We’re in the process of working out the details in order for you to be able to register your child to begin in the fall. At this time, please email me (Chris Etchison) at cetchison@mccschools.org if you will need enrollment materials. Please include your name, your child’s name and a contact number in case we need it. Once I hear from you, I’ll get you the information you’ll need and figure out the best method for us to share documents back and forth. If you know someone that does not have access to internet service, please ask them to call my office at 757-4701 (ext. 520). Please share this information with others that may need it. I’ll also post this message to my personal Facebook account.
Due to the Governor's Stay Home, Stay Safe Executive Order, we have been advised to shutdown our playgrounds for health and safety reasons. The attached posting will be placed at both of our School District's playgrounds.

Good morning, the Book Fair will not be open today. We apologize for the last minute change.
Good Afternoon Spartan Families, we have decided to postpone the Daddy-Daughter Dance scheduled for tomorrow evening. This decision is based on the recommendations from our Governor and Health Officials to cancel or postpone events such as this until further notice. Our goal is to reschedule later in the spring if possible. Thank you.
We’re looking forward to meeting with our parents at Parent-Teacher Conferences this week. Contact us if you haven’t scheduled a time to meet with your child’s teacher and we’ll set something up for you. Also, the Book Fair will be open Tuesday and Thursday during Conferences from 3:00-7:00 pm and on Friday before the Daddy-Daughter Dance from 3:00-5:00 pm. Pete the Cat will be visiting the fair Tuesday and Thursday at 4,5, and 6 o'clock. Stop by to see Pete and all the wonderful books we have at the fair this year!
We can’t wait to see everyone this Friday evening at our annual Daddy Daughter Dance!!! We’re still accepting RSVP’s at both elementary offices.

We had lots of fun this past Friday night at the 2nd Annual Cocoa Shuffle/Family Movie Night. Check out these snapshots of our Spartan Families...
